Last week, ACBAR had the honor of representing Afghanistan’s NGO community at the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) in Brussels. We joined global partners to reaffirm one key message: 

“When Afghan and international NGOs are enabled to lead—Afghanistan doesn’t just survive. It recovers.”

From principled humanitarian access to localization and coordination reform, we advocated for sustained, flexible funding and a meaningful role for Afghan civil society—especially women-led organizations.

Grateful to our partners at the EU, ECHO, FCDO, and SDC for their continued support and field engagement.

This is just the beginning of a deeper reset for Afghanistan’s humanitarian response—rooted in trust, courage, and shared responsibility.
